Name: Dan Gebremedhin

Dan Gebremedhin is a Principal at Flare Capital Partners where he focuses on identifying early stage companies that harness technology to achieve the Healthcare “Triple Aim.” Prior to joining Flare, Dan served as the Associate Medical Director at the Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan, focusing on Population Health Analytics and Value Based Purchasing. Dan is a practicing Internal Medicine Physician on the Faculty of the Massachusetts General Hospital, and has an appointment as an Instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Previously, Dan spent time as an entrepreneur and operator in the Health IT Industry, cofounding and managing two separate businesses in the Electronic Health Records and Online Medical Education industries. Dan’s other interests include Global Health and Healthcare Policy. He has worked to expand healthcare infrastructure in the developing world, serving as a consultant for the Clinton Foundation Health Access Initiative (CHAI) in Ethiopia. He has served as a Senior Health Policy Advisor for the Campaigns of Governor Charlie Baker and Congressman Joseph Kennedy III.
Dan earned a B.S. with honors from the University of California, San Diego, an M.D. Summa Cum Laude from the Morehouse School of Medicine, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. Dan completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Name: Amanda Carbonneau
A tireless advocate for behavioral health and health care systems change, Amanda has worked with multiple community-based non-profit organizations. She was the Co-Director of Colby Volunteer Center which served 25 community programs with 350 volunteers. Amanda also worked with the Full Frame Initiative, developing new approaches for treatment and community integration in an effort to break cycles of poverty and violence. At the Wayside Youth Support Network, which provides a therapeutic school and acute mental health care for adolescents, Amanda was a residential counselor. She also served as a Board Member at Crisis and Counseling Centers of Maine which serves over 12,000 families annually.
As a Co-Founder and Director of Digital Health Solutions at Wellist, Amanda continues her commitment to improving the lives of patients and their families. She began her career at Wellist as an intern and built the initial database, helping patients easily connect to needed support services. Since then, the database has grown to 5,000 vendors, 600 of which are national services. Amanda also established, recruited and oversees Wellist’s call center, now a profit center for the company. She manages the engineering and product teams, user support team, and vendor analyst team. Under her guidance, online sign-ups have increased 83%.
Amanda earned her BA from Colby College, graduating cum laude with honors in psychology. She was recently named a Rev Boston Top 20 Women in Tech. Amanda is also a mentor at Resilient Coders which seeks to spread code literacy to traditionally underserved communities
Name: Michael DeFranco
Title: Founder & CEO
Michael DeFranco is the Founder and CEO of Lua, the mobile-first communications solution for high-performance organizations. He began his career at iMapData, an enterprise software company that provides security solutions to the U.S. government and Fortune 500 corporations. He started as a research intern at iMapData and progressed to become the Head Research Analyst for Legislative Intelligence, where he was responsible for intelligence verification, database design and case studies for U.S. and foreign government clients.
To bootstrap Lua, Michael built databases to help launch Bloomberg Government. He continued to work with Bloomberg Government for its ongoing research efforts. He is a participant of the United Nation’s World Forums on Education, a community member of General Assembly, a board member of Halawai (a non-profit organization focused on fostering the Hawaiian and Pacific Island community in New York City) and a New York Leader of the Foreign Policy Initiative.
Michael is a graduate of Wesleyan University where he received a B.A. in International Relations with a focus on Nation Building and The Arab-Israeli Conflict. Michael also studied at the London School of Economics and spent two summers studying Mandarin in Shanghai

Josh founded Hometeam when his family struggled to care for his 93-year-old grandfather. He believes that home care should go beyond the basics to provide a safe, reliable, and interactive service that creates happier days for seniors. Prior to Hometeam, Josh worked as an investor, operator, and engineer at companies like Bain Ventures, Bain & Co, and Yahoo.
