Name: Thales S. Teixeira

Title: Lumry Family Associate Professor of Business Administration

Company: Harvard Business School

Thales Teixeira is a faculty in the Marketing Unit. He holds a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Michigan. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and master’s degree in statistics at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Before joining HBS, Professor Teixeira was an independent quantitative marketing consultant to technology and financial services companies, among them Microsoft, HP, and Prudential. He researches the Economics of Attention.

His research domain comprises advertising, digital marketing and The Economics of Attention – i.e., the market principles of how to buy, sell, capture and use consumer attention effectively to acquire, and engage consumers in order to build brands cheaply.

Name: Philip C. Behn

Title: Senior Vice President eCommerce

Company: Walmart Mexico and Central America

Philip is responsible for Walmart’s eCommerce business in Mexico and Central America, and a member of Walmart de Mexico’s Executive Committee. The business unit he leads is responsible for Walmart’s omnichannel strategy and online business across all retail banners, including Walmart, Superama and Sam’s Club. Prior to his move to Walmart in Mexico, Philip held senior positons with Walmart International and Walmart Global eCommerce, which including responsibility for building up Walmart’s Omnichannel business in China.

Philip joined Walmart Stores, Inc in 2010 as part of a new leadership team tasked with building Walmart’s Global e-commerce business and standing up @WalmartLabs Silicon Valley technology unit. Through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions, Walmart’s e-commerce operations became a USD 13+ billion business with operations in ten markets and aggressive growth plans. Prior to Walmart, Philip was a senior management consultant with McKinsey & Company serving retail and consumer goods clients in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Philip holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he graduated as Baker Scholar, and degrees in Economics and Finance from the University of Chile. He is an avid skier, mountain biker and long-distance swimmer.

Name: Ali Weiss

Title: VP of Growth

Company:  Glossier

Ali Weiss, MBA ‘15, is currently the VP of Growth at Glossier, a modern, digitally- native beauty brand made by editors who ‘get' what works and inspired by what girls want in real life. Prior to HBS, Ali worked at BlackRock for 5+ years in financial institutions account management, corporate strategy and as the chief of staff to the Head of iShares. She is passionate about the little things in life that make the everyday better and changed her career focus on consumer products upon starting at HBS. She interned in product development at Harry’s, a men’s grooming company set out to disrupt the shaving industry, during the summer between RC and EC years and first connected with Glossier in her EC year when she worked on a project looking into international expansion opportunities for the company. Ali lives and works in New York City and is inspired by the idea of building a brand through conversations, community and peer-to- peer referral

Name: Matt Herman

Title: Director of Marketing Platforms

Company:  Wayfair

Matt Herman is the Director of Marketing Platforms at Wayfair, one of the world’s largest online destinations for the home. He leads a team of product managers responsible for building Wayfair’s proprietary marketing technology stack across all marketing channels.  Prior to joining Wayfair in 2013, Matt was a consultant at Bain & Company and a data scientist at MIT. He holds a MBA from Harvard Business School and BS in applied math from MIT.
